We are an early intervention mental health course for teenagers

What is Kardia?

We are a free mental health course for young people

Kardia is a mental health course based in neuroscience and faith. It is aimed at young people struggling with anxiety and depression related symptoms and general poor mental health, though any young person would benefit from it.

It is an early intervention course to raise self-esteem and to give young people the tools to think positively and learn to take responsibility for their mental health.

It aims to manage expectations around how we should feel, create a daily routine of good mental health, and explore issues relating to poor mental health.

It is free for young people to attend.

How does it work?

Kardia is an 8 week course, but the benefits will last a lifetime

The course takes you, the young person, on a journey over 8 weeks but is a lifelong tool for good mental health. There are 8 sessions of 90 minutes each and each session has a teaching point and activities to complete in the Kardia Workbook.

There is teaching around neuroplasticity and the basics of how our brains work, encouraging us that you can take control of your thought life and therefore your mental health.

Alongside the course, you will be given the Kardia Journal to take away for daily reflection. This is where neuroscience moves from theory to practice in changing neural pathways through focused daily reflection.

What our participants are saying

  • I learnt to feel better about myself, to think more positively and form more positive habits with thoughts. I learnt to love myself more.
  • The 'I am worth it!' session helped me feel better about my parents and feeling like I am worth it
  • My biggest take away from the course was catch it, check it, change it! Learning about negative thoughts and how you can change them
